RIDGELAND – Five Northwest men's and women's soccer sophomores have been chosen to compete in the 2019 MACJC All-Star matches.

Cheyenne Smith and Carolyn Rials were selected from the Lady Rangers while Tim Spencer, Dodger Rhone and Adrian Suarez will represent the Northwest men's program.

In her two seasons at Northwest, Smith became one of the Lady Rangers' primary weapons on offense. She led the Lady Rangers in scoring with 12 goals as a freshman, accounting for more than half of the season goals scored by Northwest. The Cordova, Tenn. native battled injuries this season, resulting in just one goal in eight matches.

Rials also battled injuries during her Northwest career but rebounded from missing the entire 2018 season to starting every match this year. She scored five goals during her freshman campaign in 2017.

In his two years at Northwest, Spencer shattered nearly every single record as the Rangers' primary goalkeeper. After totaling 96 saves as a freshman, Spencer quickly broke the program's all-time saves record just five matches into this season. He wrapped up his career with 210 saves, including 114 from this season.

Despite spending only one season at Northwest, Senatobia native and Belhaven transfer Dodger Rhone made a notable impact on the Rangers' offense this season. Rhone scored just one goal with an assist but had one of the team's best shot on-goal percentages (.700), taking seven attempts on target out of 10 total shots.

Like Rhone, Suarez also started in every match but one this season, still serving as one of the Rangers' most vocal leaders at midfielder.

Both matches will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College. The women's match is set for noon with the men's match to follow at 2:30 p.m.

Matt Convertino (Holmes) and Brandon Mitchell (Hinds) will serve as the women's and men's head coaches of the North Division All-Stars.
