JC men's soccer, women's tennis teams earn NJCAA academic honors

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Two Jones College teams have garnered a prestigious national honor.

 

The Bobcat women's soccer team and men's tennis team each had the highest Grade Point Averages (GPAs) in the country and have been named NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in their respective sports.

 

Head coach Dolores Deasley's soccer team had a 3.72 GPA and head coach Brooks Buffington's tennis team had a 3.64.

 

Jones was one of only six schools in the nation to have multiple award winners.

 

Four other Bobcat teams had a GPA of 3.0 or higher and received Honorable Mention recognition.

 

Women's tennis had a 3.71 GPA, good enough for fourth in the country. Baseball had a 3.47 GPA, which was ninth in the nation. Men's soccer had a 3.34, which was 16th in the country. Softball had a 3.51 GPA, which was 31st nationally.
