Jones Bobcats fall to No. 6 Tyler (Texas) in NJCAA playoffs

EUNICE, Louisiana – The Jones College Bobcats came up short in the NJCAA Gulf South District playoffs here Friday evening at the Bengal Sports Complex.

The No. 6 Tyler Junior College (Texas) Apaches blanked the Bobcats 3-0 in a semifinal match.

Jake Morris scored for Tyler in the 17th minute as the Apaches took a 1-0 halftime lead. Dylan Bufton scored in the 49thminute to make it 2-0 and Bufton scored again in the 86th minute off a Jacob Daffern assist.

Tyler went on to defeat host LSU-Eunice 3-2 Saturday in the championship game. Tyler will now host the NJCAA Division I Tournament Nov. 18-23. It will be the 10th straight appearance in the nationals for the Apaches.

The Bobcats, winners of two consecutive MACJC championships, end the season at 12-6-1.
