Win Streak Reaches Five for Bobcats in Shutout of Southwest

ELLISVILLE Itai Allen broke a scoreless tie in the 39th minute and Malachi Harrison added his first goal of the season in the 74th minute as Jones blanked Southwest, 3-0, to run its win streak to five games.

Jones improved to 9-4 overall, 5-2 in the south, while Southwest fell to 2-10-1, 0-7 in division play. The match was made up after being suspended Oct. 4 in Ellisville.

The Bobcats dominated possession the opening 45 minutes, drawing seven corners and firing 13 shots, before finally breaking through with late goals to take a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Southwest had two chances to tie in the second, with Victor Gomez hitting the crossbar twice. 

Harrison put the game away off a John Mark Rose assist on one of the Bobcats' 12 corner kicks on the night.

Callum Harley only needed three saves to post his fifth combined shutout. Collin Reid finished with 11 saves for the Bears.

Jones will close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 18 at Pearl River. Start time is 7 p.m. and the match can be seen on
