Thirty-Nine Northwest Rangers Earn NJCAA All-Academic Honors

CHARLOTTE – Fresh off seeing 74 total student-athletes earn Academic All-MACJC honors, the NJCAA has also announced team and individual honors for academic achievement during the 2018-19 academic year, with 39 Northwest student-athletes garnering national recognition.

NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards are broken down into three teams, with the qualifying grade-point average for each honor as follows: All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA; All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA; All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA.

All-Academic First Team honors went to Kayla Bradley, Presley Farr, Claire Fleming, Lindsay Hall, Jonathan Jones, I'esha Mosby and Madison Pharr.

NJCAA All-Academic Second Team honorees were Keshunn Abram, Madison Crosby, Jack Dowe, Makenzie Ellis, Kennedy Gore, Walt Hopson, Delta Claire Newman, Ericka Richardson, Mike Robinson, Mallory Russell, Braden Smith, Adrian Suarez, Ben Van Cleve, Sarah Walker and Allie Williams.

NJCAA All-Academic Third Team members were Brittni Beard, Dalton Fowler, Sarah Johnson, Zachary Johnson, N'Keiria Larris, Hayden Leatherwood, Jeanette Valdez-Meraz, Blake Miller, Robert Miller, Ernest Minton, Kristen Perrigo, Mi'Chaela Prince, Jerrick Reed II, Cade Spratlin, Daniel Suarez, Jake Tyrone and Nakia Walker.

In addition, Northwest had two programs fall just short of garnering Academic Team of the Year honors. The Northwest Lady Rangers basketball program tallied a 3.69 GPA, coming in second in the nation behind Western Technical College (3.72). Meanwhile, the Rangers were just one of two in the nation to qualify for football Academic Team of the Year, finishing with a 3.01 team GPA behind Jones College's 3.14 GPA.
